Minicourses and Family:
activities for all audiences

Part of the Educational Activities program, the Minicourses are practical and theoretical activities for artists, teachers, and students in the fields of visual arts, literature, music, video, and photography. After the workshops of 4D Video with Sergio Bonilha and Luciana Ohira, EduAbad explores Optical Devices: Construction and Exploration of Optical Resources. Oct. 11, 18, and 25. Visit the Minicourses page to check the complete schedule and how to participate.

Family series brings storytelling, game-visits, and a studio for scale-model building to make children and families closer to the poetic universe of Olafur Eliasson and the artists in Southern Panoramas. Children of any age may participate, alongside a responsible person. The first encounters happen october 8 and 15: in Games with Art – Space Invaders the collective Zebra 5 explores Olafur Eliasson experiments; and Kiara Terra creates in Imaginary Travels – Maps and Routes for Small Explorers imaginary routes based on the works featured in the Southern Panoramas exhibition. In the page of the activity you may find more details and instructions for enrollment.

17th Festival: art as the
opposite of boredom

http://vimeo.com/29780354

Created by advertising agency F/Nazca&Saatchi, the Festival promotion campaign is based on the notion of art as a dimension diametrically opposed to the numbing that daily life brings. Art leads to reflection, creates delight and discomfort, shakes up and enhances our understanding. And considering that art today relates to other fields of knowledge and action, we have asked Olafur Eliasson and the artists in the 17th Festival to refer internet sites that are able to create an unusual experience in your daily digital life. Olafur Eliasson – Seu corpo da obra: two other venues open today

The Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson first Latin American solo show takes place at the SESC Belenzinho (sharing space with the Southern Panoramas collective exhibition), SESC Pompeia and Pinacoteca do Estado. In these two spaces, the exhibition opens today, from 11:00 AM. Besides installation Sua fogueira cósmica at SESC Belenzinho, other six works are featured at SESC Pompeia and other four at Pinacoteca.
The show reveals a deep and clear dialogue between the artist’s works and the places where they are located, both in urbanistic and architectural contexts – the way that Micróscópio para São Paulo redefines the visual route of one of the courtyards inside the Pinacoteca and the way that the work Seu corpo da obra is integrated into the Lina Bo Bardi’s project for SESC Pompeia social area are only two examples. Learn more about the works and visit the exhibitions in the three venues.
